Lonborg Woodcarving

WELCOME! To my web site my name is Nicholas Lonborg. I have been woodcarving and woodworking for over 20 years. Over the span of these years I have had the pleasure to work with many wonderful people; creating quarterboards, architectural installations, sculptural artwork, one of a kind woodcarvings, and unique signs.

A Lonborg sign whether it be a quarterboard or a tavern sign is hand-crafted from top to bottom. No routers, no laser cutters, no power tools except a band saw to cut out the wood blanks. Letters are incised or carved with a single utility knife; relief carving is done with chisels and gouges. Painting (all five coats) is by brush; gilding is 23k gold leaf applied in the old style. The result is a classically elegant work of art that adds immeasurably to the overall impression of the place where it is hung. I am dedicated to fine design.
